Welcome to the Bologna Centre of the German Rectors' Conference (HRK)

The Bologna Centre of the German Rectors’ Conference is dedicated to a successful implementation of the Bologna reforms in Germany. It was established in July 2007 as a successor to the Bologna Service Centre and the Bologna Cometence Centre founded in 2004 and 2005 respectively. It is financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The introduction of the new tiered study structure poses significant challenges for higher education institutions. The Bologna Centre serves as a key advisory, coordinative and intermediary support unit for German universities. Through its activities, including the monitoring and dissemination of “good practice”, the Bologna Centre strives to give substance to the vision of a common European Higher Education Area well beyond 2010. Our commitment to this goal is also reflected in our efforts to contribute to the reform discussion, develop reform proposals and support improvements to quality assurance in teaching and study structures.

The key tasks of the Bologna Centre include:

• Advising
We in the Bologna team advise universities on the multiple facets of implementing the Bologna Process and the higher education reforms involved. Our advisory efforts range from answering mail and telephone inquiries to “on site” support and lecture visits.

• Publications
All publications of the Bologna Centre, such as our comparative reports, can be ordered free of charge.

• Events
We in the Bologna team regularly organize conferences, meetings and workshops (e.g. on the Bologna tools such as Qualifications Framework, Employability, ECTS, Diploma Supplement, etc.). Information on and from the meetings and lectures can also be found on our homepage.

• Networking
We in the Bologna team are continuously building networks to exchange information and knowledge.
